Big Bear Lake is a mountain town with a large lake right in the middle and 2 ski resorts right in town. It is only 1 hour from San Bernardino, and only a couple of hours or so from San Diego, Los Angeles and Orange County.Some great activities include snow skiing, water skiing, boating, hiking, shopping, exploring, etc.
